Ideas for Being Home with the Children During Quarantine and Social Distancing

As well as homework from school it’s a good idea to plan for other activities children can enjoy while at home.

  • Cook family meals together each day
  • Bake a cake / biscuits/ cup cakes
  • Support children to write emails to grandparents and other loved ones regularly

  • Board games
  • Puzzles
  • Read books everyday
  • Face time grandparents (a lot)
  • Write and illustrate a story
  • Learn to sew or knit
  • Do some gardening together
  • Make indoor dens
  • Painting/drawing
  • Study a new topic e.g. space/animals/nature/trains/dinosaurs, make a fact book and spend 30 minutes a day adding to it
  • Junk modelling – decorate large boxes
  • Colouring and activity books

Having a routine and structure in the day will really help your children to adjust to the big changes that are happening.
