Launthea began her career with Newham in 2002 as a Business Office within Children and Young People’s Services (CYPS).
In January 2013 Launthea secured a position in Newham’s Early Start Parenting Team as a Support Officer. This exposure, and previous experience, organically led her to train in one of the borough’s advocated parenting programme Triple P.
A combination of her training with 10yrs experience of working with families, saw Launthea accredited to deliver Triple P’s Group, Seminar and Discussion Groups delivery in specific subject areas: Managing Fighting and Aggression; Having a Hassle free shopping with children; Developing Good Bedtime Routines and Dealing with Disobedience. Launthea is also trained in - and regularly runs - Toilet/Potty workshops, as well as the Parent Protect programme which provides parents with information and guidance on protecting children from child sexual abuse.
Launthea’s greatest job satisfaction is receiving feedback from parents expressing how the experience has or will benefit them and their families.
Launthea is a parent of two primary aged children and finds this helps her to keep afresh on the importance of parenting positively, awareness of children’s environment and developmental needs. And also the importance of taking care of ourselves as parents.
